Sue: But it’s half past seven. We’ve got a date. We’re going out in half an hour
Terry: Well, that’s why I’m phoning. You see. I’ve got to work late, so I can’t make it this evening. I’m sorry, Sue, but…
Sue: Oh, all right. It doesn’t matter. I haven’t finished my homework anyway
Terry: What about tomorrow night?
Sue: That’s no good. I’m playing badminton tomorrow night. You know I play badminton every Tuesday
Terry: How about after you’ve finished?
Sue: I don’t finish till half past nine. And I usually go to the coffee with Kamala afterwards. Are you free Wednesday evening?
Terry: No, I can’t make it on Wednesday. I want to watch the football match on TV. Are you doing anything on Thursday?
Sue: Yes, I’m doing my community work at the hospital on Thursday this week
Terry: That isn’t important, is it?
Sue: It’s important to me, Terry. Well, we won’t see each other till Friday
Terry: Friday? What’s happening on Friday?
Sue: It’s the school dance, remember?
Terry: Oh. But Carol’s having a party on Friday. It’s her Birthday. Everyone from the office is invited
Sue: Does that mean you aren’t going to the dance?
Terry: Well, yes… er… I mean no… er…
Sue: You know your problem, Terry. You’re easily influenced by other people
Terry: But you can go to the dance on your own
Sue: Oh, thanks you very much. That’s very kind. Don’t worry, Terry Moore. I will go. I won’t sit at home, just because you won’t be there.

Sue: I don’t care what you meant, Terry. And now I’ve got some homework to do. Goodbye
